The International Cup
John Harms and The Footy Almanac is running this Lunch and we expect a good number of
International visitors in attendance for John to speak with.
The AFL International Cup is being played for the 6th time this year starting tomorrow (5th
August), and ending with Grand Finals on 19 August. The Competition began in 2002 and is
played every three years – it is being played in Melbourne in 2017, with the Grand Finals played
as curtain raisers at the MCG and Etihad on Sat 19th.
The competition draws teams from 18 countries with ex pat Australians ineligible to play. This
year there are 18 international mens’ teams and 8 womens’ teams.
Friday 11 is a rest day so we can hope to see a good number of International Lunchers coming
along to see how we do it in Australia.
