Barry Michael Swettenham was born in England 2nd June 1955 and migrated to Australia in
1957, growing up in Williamstown.

He is rated #7 in Australia’s all time Greatest Boxers.

As well as numerous Australian & Commonwealth Titles, he won the world IBF Featherweight
boxing title in 1985 over the younger Lester Ellis at Festival Hall. He successfully defended his
title 3 times before losing in 1987 and retiring. He had 60 professional bouts winning 48 (15
KOs) losing 9 and had 3 draws.

Barry Michael has been a boxing trainer & promoter and is currently Manager of Zac Dunn the
world class middleweight Melbourne boxer.

Barry has a Real Estate business and works in the print & radio media. He stood for The Senate
for the Palmer United Party with Doug Hawkins, and recently stood for Mayor for Hobsons
Bay as an independent.

Barry was even attacked in a nightclub by Alphonse Gangitano, shortly after he beat the
Gangitano promoted Lester Ellis.
